What Our Legislators Will Be Doing this Week
If you want to know what our legislators will be doing after today's holiday, here is the plan… The Senate will most likely pass the American Jobs Act, currency legislation, and more secret "super-committee" meetings are in the mix too…

Once again, thank you for sending us your e-mails. We can't respond individually, but we read and consider all of them. Send your question, comment, or complaint to wendy@theprojecttorestoreamerica.com.

Here is what two people have to say about the Join Now logo…

I'm already a subscriber and I get the daily e-mails. What is the meaning of the "JOIN NOW" snake and what is it saying with that thing coming out of its mouth? I've opened it in Photoshop and after enlarging it I'm still unable to make out the text.

What's it mean? - Ronald

Bidwell comment: The Join Now logo is based on Benjamin Franklin's Join, or Die political cartoon. Franklin integrated this cartoon into an editorial piece in the Pennsylvania Gazette in 1754 about the colonies not being united.

In the original cartoon, the head represented all of New England and the other pieces represented the rest of the eight colonies at that time. It was meant to make a point… the colonies must unite against a common enemy, which was the French at the time. The cartoon lived on to be the symbol for unity against a different common enemy, the British, during the Revolutionary War period.

Would you be willing to consider changing your logo??? MANY people, including me, do NOT like snakes. My first impression of "bad" then carries over to the organization! In addition, I just enlarge the logo and tried to read the words coming out of the snake's mouth… I could finally read "commerce", but could not read the first word. In fact, not until really "looking at it", did I even notice that there were "words" there… I thought they were just part of a design.

In other words, could there be a more compelling logo??? Something that would symbolize working together – rising above – accountability – creative thought – honesty – workability and good business acumen? I hope so!!! Considering human nature's natural inclination, first impressions mean a lot – and I know I have been deleting your messages for a long time. Thank you for asking for our input. Regards, - Barbara

Bidwell comment: Barbara, thank you for sharing these concerns… The Join, or Die cartoon had different renditions, one of which had the Commerce banner coming out of the snake's mouth. The colonies were uniting against a common enemy to protect their commerce… this is precisely what we must do again today.

If our government is going to sneak its own agenda into our lives, which is demonstrated in today's first article about education unions and collective bargaining, we must be informed, educated, and unite against this corruption. We must protect ourselves and our commerce against the government's deception, greed, and guile.

Regards,

Wendy Bidwell
Director, The Project to Restore America

The Project to Restore America is a non-partisan call for a fiscally-responsible government, to bring true freedom to Americans as outlined in the Constitution.

Each day, we will be sending you the most timely and important news and information on the three "pillars" of The Project:

Balanced budgets for every level of government
Sound money backed by gold
The right for all Americans to keep 80% of his/her income

This has nothing to do with Republicans, Democrats, or whatever political party you belong to. The system we have today has delivered ALL of us to the doorstep of national bankruptcy. Unless we reform the way we govern our country, by adopting the three Project "pillars" as amendments to the Constitution, we will lose the liberty that is our birthright as Americans.

That is the goal for The Project to Restore America. Ultimately, our community will be a powerful vehicle for change.

Let's move quickly!
