Dear Project To Restore America reader, Here is your daily project update:   Bernanke: a Mad Scientist Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke is paying member banks holding reserves at the Fed an interest rate of 0.25%. The going interest rate on Treasury bills is 0.01%, and by law, the Fed should not exceed this rate. Well, as you probably already know, Bernanke thinks he is above the law… and surprise, surprise, there used to be a few million dollars in excess reserves, but now there is $1.6 trillion. So when the day comes when these interest rates are adjusted, this money will flood the U.S. economy, further diluting the value of the U.S. dollar…   Who Bloomberg Readers Think Understands the Economy Best The GOP presidential debate on Bloomberg last night was set around a conference table. It was nice to see the candidates had a more collaborative spirit. Who, in your opinion, would be most successful turning the economy around?   Capitol of Pennsylvania Files for Bankruptcy Protection Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has filed for bankruptcy. Other cities and states are going to have to seriously start cutting government jobs and pensions…   Why You Should Demand More from Your Congressmen While certain presidential candidates consider themselves "strict constitutionalists," the founding fathers most likely intended for the body of leaders to ultimately lead the country… Once again, thank you for sending us your e-mails. Here is a comment on Cato's Downsizing the Federal Government and a question about the upcoming conference…  Based on what I see in the Cato results for the nine listed agencies… If we were to have those departments closed, my household would save $18,610.00. I could buy a lot of food and ammo and still have plenty left to donate to the church for the needy… Not the lazy but the needy of my choice. Also my neighbors and I could get together and have our roads repaved, complete with new sidewalks and curbs. We would probably even have enough left over for some nice landscaping. I love the information, but it does little more than to further my resentment of our government and the way they waste my money. – Anonymous Bidwell comment: If every American citizen were informed and knew that making these cuts would better his situation, we would not be in the mess we currently find ourselves in. Part of the reason our legislators get away with what they currently do is because we are uninformed, naïve, or apathetic. Let's change things… starting with informing and educating Americans…  There have been at least two Project updates telling us to look for details concerning an event in Las Vegas on November 19th. I know there is a lot of planning to be done, but when can we truly expect the details to be announced? – Jeffery Bidwell comment: This Friday's e-letter will be your official invitation to the conference. There will be a fee for this event. But make sure to read Friday's e-letter to find out the details. The Events Director and I are heading to Las Vegas later this week to finalize the details.
