Your Daily Update from The Project to Restore America

November 01, 2011
Dear Project To Restore America reader,

Forwarding this email is not a copyright infringement… you can forward this message to your friends…

Here is your daily project update:

Public Distrust of Government Continues to Grow
According to a recent New York Times / CBS poll, only 9% of people approve of the way Congress is doing its job. As far as how Obama is doing with job creation, I would have thought the percentage would be lower. But 35% approve of what he is doing…

Big Brother Watch: Anything that Infringes Will Be Shut Down
On Wednesday, our legislators introduced the Stop Online Piracy Act, which has received bipartisan support in the House and the Senate. At first glance it looks good, but when you read all 78 pages, it begins to smell funny…

How Washington's Regulations are Crushing Small Business in America
U.S. small businesses, responsible for almost two-thirds of new hires annually, are facing rising barriers and an increasingly hostile relationship with Washington due to federal regulations. As one Nevada small business owner recently said: "I feel like it's them against us."

The Ivory Tower and Higher Education's Unintended Consequences
More taxpayer money goes toward higher education, but the investment isn't paying back society. In fact, there are many unintended consequences…

Once again, thank you for sending us your e-mails. We can't respond individually, but we read and consider all of them. Send your question, comment, or complaint to wendy@theprojecttorestoreamerica.com.

I appreciate all of your hard work and the general direction you are going. However, I'm never going to be able to fully support you as long as your goal is to pass an amendment that guarantees that people will be able to keep 80% of what they make.

The Constitution doesn't even permit an un-apportioned tax on incomes now, and you are suggesting that we should make an amendment to it to do so? So many are working as tirelessly as you, perhaps even harder at restoring the Constitution and you are partially contributing to the problem of unconstitutional taxes and in its wake giving the government the ability to misapply any new tax law you worked to create.

The problem is not the Constitution… it the misapplication or total disregard for it that is the problem. If you want an amendment to push, create an amendment that makes it a constitutional requirement for any government agency to sight the constitutional authority for their action and then include what I call the punishment clause, which would make it a crime for Congress or the President or anyone else to exceed their constitutional authority given them BY THE PEOPLE… no more and no less.

Please be very careful with what you are suggesting. As it stands… I cannot support you. Best wishes to you, Bob

Bidwell comment: The government can only realistically collect 20% of people's incomes, so let's just simplify the process. By letting people keep 80% of their income, we can enhance voter equity.

I do not think it is possible for us to live in this country with no form of taxation whatsoever. I am sorry you cannot support the Project…

I would like to suggest a book: The Market for Liberty by Linda and Morris Tannehill. This book provides a very sound basis for life without government where the markets are allowed to create the ability for everyone to achieve liberty. Yes, even legal disputes would be handled privately; and likely more effectively. The reasoning is excellent. – Jeff

Bidwell comment: Jeff, thank you for the suggested reading. I always like book recommendations, so I will grab a copy and read it en route to the Tea Party Convention in Florida this weekend.

Regards,

Wendy Bidwell
Director, The Project to Restore America

The Project to Restore America is a non-partisan call for a fiscally-responsible government, to bring true freedom to Americans as outlined in the Constitution.

Each day, we will be sending you the most timely and important news and information on the three "pillars" of The Project:

Balanced budgets for every level of government
Sound money backed by gold
The right for all Americans to keep 80% of his/her income

This has nothing to do with Republicans, Democrats, or whatever political party you belong to. The system we have today has delivered ALL of us to the doorstep of national bankruptcy. Unless we reform the way we govern our country, by adopting the three Project "pillars" as amendments to the Constitution, we will lose the liberty that is our birthright as Americans.

That is the goal for The Project to Restore America. Ultimately, our community will be a powerful vehicle for change.

Let's move quickly!
